A security guard who was in a multi-storey car park in Venezuela when the building collapsed in the devastating quake has been pulled out alive, eight days later, rescue officials announced.
Hernán Gil, who was working as a security guard, was trapped beneath the rubble after the quake hit on Tuesday 25 June. The building had contained his makeshift refuge, a concrete hut.
Rescue efforts continued overnight after Mr Gil was finally freed.
