Irish budget airline Ryanair has warned that a new European Union border control system, set to be implemented before the summer holiday season, could cause significant delays and 'queue chaos' at major airports.
The airline urged European governments on Thursday to postpone the launch of the Entry/Exit System (EES) until after the peak summer travel period, arguing that the infrastructure and staffing are not yet ready to handle the influx of millions of holidaymakers.
Millions of Travellers Face Delays
The EES is designed to register non-EU citizens each time they cross an external EU border, recording their entry and exit electronically. This new system replaces the current manual passport stamping process for those travelling from outside the Schengen area.
