A shooting at a youth welfare centre in northern Germany has left at least five people dead.

According to police, the incident occurred overnight, with reports suggesting that a suspect opened fire inside the building.

At least three people are being treated for injuries in hospital, police said.

The suspect has been arrested and another person is being held in connection with the shooting, police said.
