While a narrow band stretching across Spain will experience full totality, onlookers across the UK can expect to see up to 95% of the Sun slowly disappear behind the Moon.

The event is set to unfold during the late afternoon and early evening, with Scotland anticipated to witness the most significant partial obscuration in the British Isles, reaching almost complete coverage of the solar disc.

The impending eclipse has prompted warnings from energy suppliers about potential strain on the national grid. Octopus Energy cautioned consumers against an anticipated surge in electricity demand.

This expected rise coincides directly with a significant drop in solar power generation as the Sun's light is blocked. The peak demand is likely to occur during the usual evening period, creating a challenging balancing act for energy operators.

The observatory is expected to experience 1 minute and 21 seconds of totality around 20:31 Central European Summer Time (CEST), offering a unique opportunity to observe the Sun’s normally hidden outer atmosphere, the corona.
